go to church, it’s great – you don’t even have to think
Nice. Made me think… what about a Holy McCommunion?
The really good news is that the christian brain can regenerate, even after years of exposure.
The really good news is that the christian brain can regenerate, even after years of exposure to fundamentalist brainwashing -if it wants to.
do we have to go through the monkey phase again, before ‘the christian brain can regenerate, even after years of exposure to fundamentalist brainwashing’ ?
o dear… it wasn’t supposed to be a monkey phase, just a direct comparison between brain sizes. maybe my drawing is flawed.
btw… the size of the brains depicted are based on absolute medical fact… honest!
Falling so badly into the obvious trap; “we must treat everyone with respect and tolerance, except anyone who believes more than we do who we can misrepresent and malign as ‘fundamentalist’”.
When did picking on minorities become cool?
I thought you Christians were supposed to love each other. Perhaps that’s a harder job than using your creative skills to pick on such easy targets.
… it’s the intolerance of fundamentalism i was having a pop at… i think you’ll find i have a pop at most things over time, including myself! we are all flawed, as i make clear in a later cartoon.
when a group is truly prejudiced against though… ie, the homosexual community, i will do my best to stand up for what i believe. sadly, it is the fundamentalist tendancy in most of us which breeds hatred towards minorities, and fundamentalists in all faiths and political leanings that tend to start wars. jesus called the scribes and pharisee’s who preached self righteously and condemned non-believers and those they did not agree with,a ‘brood of vipers’… not being jesus, i’ve gone for the gentler approach.
i love people of all races and creeds, but that does not mean we shouldn’t make a joke. There is a strong and, i believe, healthy tradition of this type of cartooning in this country. you are perfectly entitled to have a pop at me, hopefully i will take it in good grace… i am, after all, flawed, and there’s plenty to lampoon…
i guess my main message is… lighten up!
thanks for the comment, it made me question my motives.
“we can misrepresent and malign as ‘fundamentalist’”.”
Feel a need to reply to this, as personally feel ‘fundamentalism’ has hijacked the life giving Christian faith, and turned it into a strangle hold of – well, fundamentalism, so my resentment towards the F word here, is ‘they’ve twisted the show – almost beyond recognition!’ and it’s my faith they’ve turned into a distortion! no apology, it does get me hot and bothered.
“I thought you Christians were supposed to love each other. Perhaps that’s a harder job than using your creative skills to pick on such easy targets.”
I senses a sting of hurt in your comment here, don’t worry, love and critique walk closly together, and through tears and stuggles, we reflect … and critique ourselves.
I thought monkeys brains were bigger than ours……
is that right!? need to check that out!
just thought… one of those little monkeys must have smaller brains than ours or they’d not fit them into their tiny heads!
“fundamentalist”:
Any Christian who is farther right on the political spectrum than you are.
Let me guess… some of your best friends are fundamentalists?
I was called a fundie before I even knew what it was. To be truthful, I STILL don’t know what it is.
Really, though… what is it?
Perhaps you could do a cartoon where a non-fundamental Christian was so open-minded that his plump brain fell right out of his head.
Love ya!
hahaha! might just do that!
Awesome.
thanks again!
jonirch, I think you are on to something when we think the way to promote tolerance is to demonstrate hatred to those with whom we disagree. Not very Jesus like.
