yeh, i know. why is it so often harder for people to say really encouraging things than it is to criticise?
one answer may be that to encourage someone and to tell them they are wonderful puts you in a vulnerable place. many don’t like being vulnerable in this way. but i believe vulnerabilty and openness with one another is the only way forward.
Interesting what you say, Jon. THe rule of life for the Northumbria Community is saying ‘Yes’ to availability and vulnerability. Since becoming a companion a couple of years ago, I have found those words and the rule deeply moving and enriching.
