but when it was easy we didn’t have such a horrible litigious society. It used to be if a kid hurt himself then hey thats called the school of hard knocks and they’ll learn. Now they learn to make money from an accident. A very American idea that has infiltrated the UK and i hate it.
I worked in a school and had an up to date CRB. I was interested in doing some stuff with the kids in church, but didn’t bother ‘cos I couldn’t be arsed with the CRB that was required. Then I applied to do teacher training and, yes, needed CRBing again. This time I had to lash out £40 for the privilege. So I apologise for being cynical. But the cynic in me says that all they prove is that either you haven’t been caught or you haven’t offended…yet. Sorry Jon, that sounds really negative. I have had a very tiring week…
can’t really argue with that. plenty of people have slipped through the rather holey net according to the media. maybe parents wouldn’t be so anxious if offenders didn’t get so much press coverage anyhow.

i think crb checks are perhaps the only good thing. not because they necessarily work, but they may put a few anxious parents minds at rest.
