happy new year ( | o )=====:::! we’re a bit ahead of you here. thanks for your input and reflections in 2007, look forward to continued relating in 2008… if you ever visit the uk you can be sure that there are places where you are more than welcome to stay. great getiing to know you a bit.
sas, carole et al… thanks for all you’ve brought to asbo. you are treasured! : -)
I know it would’ve been against the whol message of the comic, but including something nonsensical (like an ant or a biro or a garbage can) in those images would’ve taken the strip into a post-modernist direction (and make it funny in my expert opinion)
oso… there is an ant in the bottom right hand corner of the cartoon. it’s just too small to see with the naked eye.
it’s a matter of worship isn’t it su? where you place your trust, your loyalty etc. and maybe it’s about where you place your hope for salvation… in the bible or in christ, in fitness regimes or in grace.
Jon, it’s great that you give us a place to share the view of the journey. On our next trip to the UK we would definitely look you up!
You have the same offer if you’re ever here in The OC!
I’ve always been more than a little uncomfortable with the way much of American Christianity seems to idolise the US flag. I wonder how Jesus feels about ‘the pledge of alliegence’, What if more energy was spent pledging alliegence to the cross and what it represents, to Christ and the work he calls us to. Just a thought from an Englishman in New York
Hey Guys, Not a comment on the strip - but just watched Rowan Williams’ New Year message.
What a good bloke. It’ll be on youtube shortly - do listen.
Happy St Sylvester’s Day everyone x

Hey,
Happy New Year from the States!
Love this site & your art, Jon.
Thanks for showing this to be true…

Me? Definitely the internet. An addiction. And food. Suppose I should do something about them but both are so deeply ingrained in life, it’s hard.

Is that too much ya think?

hey tomc. yeh, the flag’s a funny one. i’ve had more complaints about my use of the american flag on this site than most other things i think.
Comment by jonbirch — January 3, 2008 @ 5:46 pm
So there with Tom C and the flag thing.
Being definitely post-Empire I think we can see now that the country and God’s Kingdom are two different things.
But we were like that once.

I notice the Bible in there. How very insightful.
Comment by ron — January 10, 2008 @ 4:38 am

I left a link to your site from my blogspot one. It might not give you much of a boost, but I am definitely going to spread the word about your stuff.
