Ahhh! A man after my own heart!

  2. Nathan says:

Oh boy do I agree! This is my first winter in Michigan and I can’t wait for Spring!

  3. Carole says:

Lord, you see into the depths of my heart and soul, you no me as no other, you know I would do anything for you, my life is yours…but I pray that you do not bless me with the particular gift of martyrdom…

I am personally a man of every season. Except summer! :-)

Nathan–I lived in Michigan for 2 years in university and then for 5 years later. I told my husband that the best part about Michigan summer and winter was that they really made you appreciate Michigan spring and autumn–which of course were my high allergy times. Can you tell I’m happy to no longer live there?

man… is michigan really that bad?

carole… i agree with your prayer. although i do question my own ability to do anything for god. i am too fearful.

  8. subo says:

that’s complex stuff, winters very bad for me, yet I know others it’s good for, but tend to find myself misunderstood and consumed with my own suffering – (have spent many winters sick), the relentlessness of winter (to me) left me thinking God was ‘doing something’ through all that pain, I now feel just about as opposite as possible, thinking God wants me to know we are highly valued by him, even when we feel inferior. keep snug folks

  9. Carole says:

I only put that bit in to for the sake of irony.

One time at Spring Harvest this guy was doing the spiel on vocation. Then the old visual aid, “If you are prepared to give up your life to God, to go wherever He wants you to be, stand up!” All these ‘courageous’ men and women of God immediately stood up. I sat and thought, “Well I’ve never really fancied going to some war-torn corner of the world – what if I got hurt? (too selfish) But it’s not about me…really…I have family responsibilities, it wouldn’t be fair on them (A little bit of self-delusion)”. I didn’t stand up which was the most honest part of my reflection. The speaker praised the standers for their faith (I felt a tad embarrassed). Then he said, “But God may just want you to be in your own neighbourhood doing exactly what you’re doing now”. Some looked deflated at this point, but I breathed a sigh of relief. So I’m going one step at a time and hope that God doesn’t require anything too courageous from me (weak, I know!) or that He provides me with all I need for the more ‘challenging’ events in life…

i’ve had that experience too, carole. funny thing though, i reckon when i was young i stood up, infact i’m sure i did. that must have been before i realised what i’m really like. :-)
