Re. Greenbelt

greenbelt was great. glad to be back though, as my voice had completely gone by the last day… some may have thought that to be an improvement! :-)

i met a whole bunch of asboers… they were all, to a person, wonderful to meet. the time in the pub with carole, phil, robb, dr ruth, caroline too, janetp et al was great. it is amazing how very much all these people are like their online presence… i really had a sense of how honest and giving people had been on the blog over the last 18 months. there was a lot of warmth, joy and discussion.

a big THANK YOU to those who managed to get along to the sunday night asbo session. all those who couldn’t make it were fondly thought of and missed. america and australia, not to mention many other places are a long journey to make just for a half hour asbo session and a drink in the pub. :-)

the venue we were in was small and intimate, just the kind of thing for a family gathering… and that is what it felt like to me. and every time i showed another cartoon i was reminded of all the wit, wisdom and soul searching that has gone on here and the generosity of spirit behind the comments. i am very grateful.

i can’t sign off without saying that i thoroughly enjoyed doing the proost stuff as well. friday and saturday night’s events reminded me of why jonny baker and i do it. there is such a lot of creativity out there… all ages making amazing work. i came home tired and inspired.

so… another big THANK YOU to all of you who have made asbo what it is.

i’ll shut up now and get on with the cartoons.

love, jb x

It was a fun half hour! Sorry I didn’t manage to say hey but had to scoot off to a reception (sounds FAR MORE illustrious than it was!) so couldn’t do the beer after thing. Glad fun was had by all!

there is an amusing account of what happened to the beer tent that we constructed on our camp site at greenbelt this year. it really was very funny for the few of us left up and awake at 3.30am when the wind hit the tent. some of the poles were bent at 90 degrees. thank you to stumpy for his telling. http://stumpysfailedcricketerdiary.blogspot.com/

Couldn’t have had more fun at Greenbelt! Chatting and musing at the pub with you and the proost crew was a real highlight. Looking forward to working on stuff together. Chat soon. I’ll be blogging about Greenbelt and my trip in the UK very soon.

Jonny B I’ll never say never but the bank holiday weekend is when me and my hubbie always take our holiday and he’d like Greenbelt like I’d like a military show. I’ll ask him.
