the ongoing adventures of asbo jesus can now also be followed on twitter. the url is below.
i have little clue what i’m doing, but i had a lovely welcome from dave walker and i think i succeeded in responding to him.
asbo twitter followers will be notified when a new cartoon or blog post goes up… that’s if i set up the twitter feed correctly… which i think i did.
so, if you’re a twitterer, then do come and be a follower. if not, then maybe you could launch into it’s hitherto unknown delights with me.
i’m sure i’ll be tweeting like a pro in no time. so, maybe see you there, you beautiful asbo people.

Welcome to the twitterverse. Can I recommend tweetdeck as a way of engaging with it in a useable manner?
thanks mate… and, que? what’s tweetback? …and yes, i’ll do it… if you tell me what it is.
Robb – I just followed you on Twitter.
Jon – Tweet deck is an application that lets you monitor your Facebook, Twitter and MySpace Accounts. I don’t use it that much but it’s handy if you want to say post a message to your Twitter and Facebook accounts and read all in one place all the messages, etc.
I am @JesusDied4This if anyone wants to follow me – shoot me a message and I’ll then follow you.
done it, robb. tweetdeck is good. facebook column a bit unhelpful though.
Hey, good way of knowing when they’re up. I’m @williamtaylor but you know that anyway.
No phone signal where I am, so alas I will be cast into asbo twitter darkness where there will no doubt be much wailing and gnashing of tweets
Can someone explain to me what Twitter is? I signed up for it ages ago, but I don’t really understand what it’s for. And why do I get emails saying that so and so is following me on Twitter when I don’t post anything and don’t know these people?
Following now…
Yay! I’m @koalainscotland and now following you on twitter.
I have two twitters. The one that is dull me – “I am off to the shops” and there is the one that is theology or church type stuff @changingworship
Jon – Close the fb window. Problem solved. Much quicker solution that complaining about it
robb…
cheeky monkey.
Ooh! Lots of new twitterers to follow, all for the price of one!
Tiggy – you have either posted a tweet containing a phrase which someone has picked up on eg – I made a throwaway referenct to Skinny Cow products and Skinny Cow immediately started following me. Other than that, they might be people with pornographic cyber-interests…just block ‘em.
Jon – you can set up the windows in tweet deck so they work for you. Sent you a mention if you can figure out how to read it.
Tiggy – I’m a newbie here too. Here’s a URL that explains the basics.

I’m on it because as a writer a lot of people that I know use it – that’s the same reason I’m on facebook. It’s a networking tool. I’m still on MySpace only cause I have 19,000+ friends and it seems silly to cut off a free tool. But I seldom use that.
And Carole’s right – I skim everyone who follows me and I see they are a major twitter marketer or into porno, I delete them. The person at the URL I gave you has a free twitter guide to dummies that’s helpful.

Also don’t click on any dodgy links – my twitter account got hacked into after I thought a friend sent me a video (I knew the person well enough that it’s the kind of thing he’d do). Took me two days to clean up the account and behind on my work.
And if anyone from Asbo follows @jesusdied4this then shoot me a direct message so I know to then follow you.
Thanks. I have never posted anything on Twitter to my knowledge. I don’t know what the verb ‘to skim’ means either. Don’t know why anyone into porn would follow me – I know I’m sexy, but…:-)
Tiggy
Becky meant to give a cursory glance to the Twitter profile of the ‘person’ and block them if necessary – if they have 1 tweet(dodgy content), no followers and are following 3248 people, then it is usually a safe bet that you should block them.
Oh, BTW I’ve not been followed by anyone offering me a bespoke pornography service, just very general ones by people with names like Nikita974 or Sasha521.
‘I’ve not been followed by anyone offering me a bespoke pornography service’
Oh I see! I thought they were looking for one.
I block at least porno invite a week. My twitter name is the name of my book JesusDied4This – so I am wondering if perhaps these women are calling out “Jesus Christ” albeit in a different context.
I also block a couple of marketers per week. And I am not that active on the account yet because I set it up for my book, which doesn’t release until July 2010. But the MOMENT you set up a twitter account, some scammers hone in on you like flies.
Carole is right – sorry if I was confusing.
She said what I meant to say but it got lost in translation.
Tiggy – One way you can tell the porn is the pic of a hot young thing but when you go to the friends page, there aren’t any tweets and she’s followed a bunch of people with few followers.
The twitter marketers have the same format – though some have a lot of tweets that looking like spam. Now I have added a few social media gurus as they help clue me in on how to use these but these are the “big guns” – they are not about to troll around looking to add followers.
here’s an example of someone I blocked who doesn’t look like a prono/spammer.

I would have let him in if he had just been a person looking to connect on some religious/spiritual level. But I got the sense from his tweets and friends that he’s looking to rack up friends for the sake of friends.
