Yes…I think I have tended to opt for intermittent death to self. I can’t really let go completely.
looks like you’ve risen again though!
I go through this all the time – eventually I feel like I’ve risen but it’s really rough as the rising happens.
Can someone please tell me what the expression “Died to Myself” actually means. The more i say it the more i think it’s just a jumble of words.
@Will; Dying to self means putting to death our nature to sin, ref Galatians 5:24-26: “Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Since we live buy the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.”
By nature we all sin (Rom 3:23), however by the grace of God we can receive forgiveness for our sin (Rom: 3:24). Through Jesus we now have the choice to turn away from our sinful nature, putting death to sin, nailing it to the cross, and living a life in line with the will Christ.
Have a read of Colossians 3: http://lncn.eu/t23
me neither, carole.
doc… the bible refs are one thing… it’s the exercising of that ‘choice’ where it gets a little harder.
ugggggggh! i’ve just noticed wordpress have introduced a ‘like’ button! are we now on facebook?
@Jon I completely agree, I was just responding to the question ‘what it means’. The choice thing is hard, very hard; there is so much that I tend to hold on to, however the Holy Spirit is good at turning lives around.
Very thought-provoking, Jon. Nice one.
“die to self” could it be as painful as contemplating suicide over and over again.
@dennis
At first, yes. But it is also very liberating.
@Doc That is just a jumble of words to me. Say it in your own words and maybe it’ll become clearer. You are just using endless metaphors.
