Murdock?
i’ll be honest with you. i pretty much don’t like rich people. by rich, i don’t mean all of us who own a computer or are paying off a mortgage, rich by the standards of many… i mean rich, powerful people with influence in the world. i just don’t like them. i don’t trust them. the man in the cartoon is expressing my own prejudice against these people. i assume they are greedy, i assume they love their money, i assume they got where they are either ruthlessly or because daddy was rich. i assume they think they’re better than everyone else, i assume they’re stupid, i assume they take what they have for granted, assume they don’t pay enough tax, i assume they are rubbish landlords, i assume all kinds of bad stuff. very occasionally i meet someone who proves me wrong, but mostly i think my prejudice is warranted. that’s my confession.
You mean this kind of rich people behavior?
“NEW YORK/IMMOKALEE, Florida (Reuters) – America’s leading mortgage lenders vowed in March to end the dubious foreclosure practices that caused a bruising scandal last year.
But a Reuters investigation finds that many are still taking the same shortcuts they promised to shun, from sketchy paperwork to the use of “robo-signers.”"
“Reuters has found that some of the biggest U.S. banks and other “loan servicers” continue to file questionable foreclosure documents with courts and county clerks. They are using tactics that late last year triggered an outcry, multiple investigations and temporary moratoriums on foreclosures.
In recent months, servicers have filed thousands of documents that appear to have been fabricated or improperly altered, or have sworn to false facts.”
speaking of books, when is your book out? the coffee table version, i have been saving my pennies up …
Last week I thought the UK was looking like a Bananna Republic this week I fear we are taking on shades of McCarthy era which hunt of anyone with a tenuous link to Murdoch.
What next? Nazi era politics (some similarity to the conditions they came to power under) or 1930′s style world recession (Greec/Ireland/Italy loan defaults)?
ENTIRELY UNRELATED, BUT HERE’S ONE FOR ALL YOU BEAUTIFUL ASBO PEOPLE OUT THERE…
Take it easy.

hey dennis! it’s out!… and i’m just about to blog it! woohoo!
“i assume they think they’re better than everyone else, i assume they’re stupid, i assume they take what they have for granted, assume they don’t pay enough tax, i assume they are rubbish landlords”
Jon are you talking specifically about Rowan Williams here?
But seriously… where did you get such a prejudice about “rich” people? The corollary prejudices about “poor” people (they are lazy, they don’t pay enough taxes, they are bad tenants…) would sound horrendous BECAUSE they are simply silly prejudices. Why not turn your ire on prejudice itself and try to judge individuals on their merits. And how did you manage to define “rich” so as not to include yourself? There are millions in this country (let alone abroad) who would envy your situation!
OK – I personalised this in answering to you, rather than to the man in the cartoon, but I mean this in a general way.
you’re absolutely right jf, which is why i talk about it as a prejudice. something i need to be and am hopefully aware of enough to set to one side so i can deal with people on an individual basis. but it was an honest confession. as to where it comes from, probably from seeing people done over by the rich and powerful the world over, but that is still no excuse for writing people off just for their circumstances. as for rowan williams, i just wish he’d have a shave!
I agree. I wouldn’t trust Murdoch as far as I could throw him, and refuse to buy any of his publications.
…….. finally realising I don’t have to feel ashamed for being poor (still resentful though)
thanks for the vid Sas, lush

Jon, he can’t shave, he’s a druid! They have beards!
(Although he always looks slightly startled doesn’t he!)
