  1. Caroline TOO says:

No quote nausiates me more than that. It was a damnable lie..she was quite Intent on conflict it was a cynical abuse of the prayer and my heart churns each time I hear her saying it.

  2. jonbirch says:

    yes. mine too.

  3. Pat says:

I agree, and I wish we had experienced neither her destructive rule nor its baneful legacy on how we approach goods such as health, education and welfare. But I will not let her have my headspace now, nor waste energy on hating her (as a person or a politician) which can be devoted to opposing her successor and his government’s dehumanising policies. She is gone and will or will not be answerable elsewhere; he is still with us and can still be held to account here!

had someone email me this morning telling me that sometimes it’s better to keep one’s mouth shut than to comment as i have. he was disappointed that i chose to say something in the way i did. but i don’t think i’ve said anything other than to look at the legacy left in british politics which is there for all to see and needs countering. she isn’t my concern, the way things are now very much is.

  5. Pat says:

How bizarre! I don’t think your comment was in any way offensive – and it perfectly expressed the sentiments you’ve outlined. There is a huge difference between critiquing a legacy and feeling sad and angry about it and heaping vilification on a dead person. I see and applaud you doing the former, I don’t see any evidence of the latter, and certainly nothing which could justify such a censorious rebuke.

  6. jonbirch says:

yes, i was surprised. oh well. :-)

  7. Pat says:

If it helps balance matters, a post I saw from a FB friend who shared your cartoon was ‘this was asbo; at his finest’ to which a respondent then replied ‘A kind and thoughtful response’

Keep ASBO-ing jon – we all need to be challenged as to our thinking and acting …..and helped to laugh at ourselves as well

  8. lanceleuven says:

That’s really good. One of the most level headed responses I’ve heard over the last few days. I completely agree.

  9. Dawn says:

should we rely on politics to bring about those things? or is it about what we as individuals bring to those around us?

  10. subo says:

like the pic, & good point Dawn, maybe it’s both, we need a government who has an awareness of their responsibility to hold up the law and protect the poor, elderly & vulnerable, and we need community organisations who can build places of belonging, who need supportive government to protect their organisation.
