Gandhi’s ‘be the change you want to see in the world’ comes to mind.
That said though, it’s easier said than done. I want to see people not judging others, pigeonholing them or dismissing them. Not so good at walking that talk though, and that’s not fair of me.

Thank you for this one! I never liked “life is not fair” as an answer…

Forgive, O Lord, my little jokes on Thee,
And I’ll forgive Thy great big one on me.

I couldn’t agree more. I still have bad memories of a time when I was just ten, and a teacher punished me unfairly. It wasn’t a mistake — he knew exactly what he was doing. (If you want to know, the scenario was that I was bullied, and the teacher had decided in advance that he would apply collective punishment to groups in which any member misbehaved — the bullying counted as misbehaviour, so he punished every member of the group, including me). Of course I protested that this was not fair, and he just said “Life’s not fair”.

As a ten-year-old, there was not much I could do, but looking back I see it as morally unacceptable to fob somebody off with the answer “Life’s not fair” when you are in a position to make life more fair and don’t actually do it!
