    Maybe that’s why God doesn’t play fast and loose with the laws of nature? :-)
    More somberly, I guess there are probably quite a few downstrean casualties of the way the church sometimes uses and abuses the notion of the miraculous :-( Well, quite a few downstream casualties of the Church too ……. :-(

    Wot, no other comments? I’m surprised. I really like this one. Aside from the first layer of chuckle, it takes me to a reflection on how in the hands of people (not blaming “the Church” so much on this one – “they” are “us/me” here!) even the most wonderful gift from God seems to go wrong. Been the story since the Garden. (A beautiful Creation! Yay!…uh oh…Wine! Yay!….uh oh…) And that leads to a reflection on why, and the role of choice (or not), esp in an addictions context, which makes it all a bit less ha-ha funny and more “…yep…”. But still so resonant.
